Hi fellow classmates! I am currently a Ph. D. student in Agricultural Communications and Education at Texas Tech University. I was fortunate enough to land an assistantship, so I work for the department as an instructor while working on my degree. I just completed my first year and look forward to two more. In the future I hope to obtain a job at a smaller university as either a communications or English instructor.
I define composition as arranging words to best suite the goals of your audience. You goal is to make it clear and easy to understand for them, not for the writer.
Nice to meet you, Corey. I look forward to see how you make a connection to agriculture and education and composition theory and history. There are certainly direct connections to be made. And, perhaps you'll end up as an English instructor some day.
ReplyDeleteAudience, certainly, is the place to begin with all communication, followed by purpose as a close second. Be sure to offer comments on others' ideas in their blogs as well. Thanks.
Hello Corey! I was immediately interested in your Ag Comm background, as my daughter, who just finished her freshman year in high school, is in FFA and is a Show Queen in the Ring too! After speaking with some TTU recruiters at the Houston Stock this year, she actually mentioned that she'd be interested in considering Tech for Ag Studies. But her ultimate goal is to attend A&M and be accepted into their Vet program. It looks like you have some experience with Blogging - nice site!! I look forward to working with you in class. -clw
ReplyDeleteCorey,
ReplyDeleteThanks. Hey, just a note--I have posted a list of composition terms that would be helpful for you to define for yourself. I'll draw from these terms for your final. See http://richrice.com/5060/keywords.docx.
